Boycott Scotland and the United Kingdom

On the Fairness of Devolution

Going through the backlog of the many thousands of messages we have received, we have come across a great number of emails from English people sympathetic to our campaign, but critical of why our boycott should include England, which is the only country of the United Kingdom that does not have its own legislature.

This then raises an important question on the fairness of devolution. Why, when devolution was debated and considered and finally granted to Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, was the concept of an English legislature not taken into account?

We would argue that the people of England who are critical of our campaign should take this opportunity to ask whether or not devolution is fair when it never included their country. Granted, if an English legislature did exist, it is likely that they would have supported the decision to release al-Megrahi, but there is a chance that they would have been against it.

Considering that the response from the people of England towards our campaign has been mostly sympathetic and positive, we would like to believe that this flagrant miscarriage of justice may have been prevented, or at the very least symbolically opposed if the English had proper representation.

At this point in history, they do not.
